The previous one was hardly a van though, it was the same kind of thing as the new model. Bit more vertical at the back but otherwise similar.

But it didn’t have any plastic cladding and no unneccessary ride height.

Only real difference between an MPV minivan and a crossover is the pseudo tough looking body cladding. It’s the same thing in a slightly different package.

Also, weren’t you the one with the Golf Plus? I just received a Golf Sportsvan DSG as a courtesy car. I suspect I’ll discover my first grey hair tonight.

“If you drive ‘round in one of these with your nuclear children fastened to their individual seats what are you saying about yourself? That apparently sells better than a boring mpv, because crossover = adventurous.

The Golf Plus has actually grown on me over the last two and a half years, probably some form of the Stockholm syndrome.

I have no idea what you people are talking about, I get and thoroughly enjoy the crossover hate, but this thing looks fantastic, it’s like a spaceship! I’d rock it.

This one isn’t pretending to be a tough SUV, it just looks like a european ford flex. Love it.

I do like the looks, especially of the interior, what I don’t like is the trend of all kinds of vehicles pretending to be suvs.

I dig the interior. This is what I expected BMWs to have in 5 years lol.

I strongly support people that cross dress.....but vehicles, not so much.

Vans and station wagons have been crossing over into SUVs for so long. Well, finish the damn transition, cars!

To be fair it makes sense. The previous 5008 was mechanically a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso, but without the Citroën’s comfort. It sucked. and MPVs don’t fit Peugeot’s image as well as Citroën’s anyway.

Nowadays the new C4 Grand Picasso and the new Peugeot 3008 SUV are both on different lengths of the same EMP2 platform. This new 5008 is simply the 3008 bits on top of the Picasso-length version of EMP2. It mustn’t have cost them too much to develop alongside the new 3008 and Picasso.

And let’s stop with the “MPV that borrows crossover styling elements” nonsense. The new Renault Espace is an MPV that borrowos crossover styling elements, this is a crossover full stop.

This is just differenciating the brands and boy did PSA need some of that. If you want a no-nonsense MPV they’ll sell you a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso, if you want some more style you can have a Peugeot 5008.

But the Grand Picasso is very stylish!

Yeah but it’s not the kind of style SUV buyers are after.

Yeah, the ‘practical’ style is just too much for some...

Not a fan of what Peugeot is doing with their exterior styling, but that interior looks great! The center stack is very Lamborghini-reminiscent.
